Chapter 2
As she stood there, in shock, staring out through the curtains, Lainey turned and walked away, down the road towards the village. She vanished quickly into the darkness.

Angharad took a deep breath, and turned away from the windows, going to the front doors to double check the locks. She didn't know what that was all about, but she'd agreed to a week, and she never broke her word. She walked through the living room into the kitchen and checked the locks on the back door. Relieved that everything was locked, she leaned against the wall, and realised she'd completely forgotten about the supper Lainey made her. She had no appetite now.

Picking up the plate, she scraped the filet mignon and vegetables off into the trash, washing the plate and utensils, then leaving them in the dish rack to drip dry. She rubbed her face tiredly, wondering what she should do, once that week was up. It was late, she was tired and she wasn't thinking clearly. Maybe in her tired state, she'd simply imagined what had happened outside? She didn't know and shaking her head ruefully, headed up to bed.

As she reached the top of the stairs, she decided to check on the Twins. They both were sleeping soundly, contentedly, and she smiled as she bent over their cribs, tucking them in a little better against the chill in the air. She really needed to see what it would take to replace the windows and better insulate this old place. With the Twins so young and finances so low, she couldn't afford to have one come down sick. Not when she needed them both to help rebuild the Clan.

She closed the door softly and went to her bedroom. Weaving her way through the piles of books littering her room- she really needed to invest in another bookshelf up here- she stripped down and climbed into bed. Finding a new nanny was the farthest thing from her mind as she drifted off into sleep.

Morning came to quickly. Even as she opened her eyes to the early sun pouring into the room, she could hear the Twins crying hungrily. 'They probably need changing too, '' she thought as she shrugged the covers back and swung herself out of bed. She crossed the small hall to the nursery and opened the door. Sure enough, both babies were screaming at the top of their small lungs.

Scooping Skyana up out of her crib, where she'd managed to toss off her covers, Angharad hummed softly to calm both of them, as she transffered the baby to the changing table. Skyana's cries soon turned to happy sounds as her soiled diaper was removed, her bottom was cleaned and a fresh diaper put on. Her happy sounds turned back to disgruntled cries as Angharad put her back in her crib to deal with her brother's dirty diaper as well.

"Hush now," Angharad admonished, "It'll only be a few minutes."

She picked Skye up out of his crib, detangling his blanket from around his thrashing legs as she did so. She quickly changed his diapers, then, as an after thought, breast fed him while she had him in her arms. Skyana wasn't happy, she could tell, but that was the problem with being a single person and having 2 hungry babies- one invariably ended up waiting. Skye fed as if he weren't getting any more milk ever again. "Save some for your sister!", Angharad scolded, as he finally released her.

She burped and cuddled him quickly, Skyana's angry screams starting to give her a headache. Then she placed him back in his crib while she fed his sister, who immediately quieted as soon as she was picked up.

"You're a feisty one, aren't you," Angharad said to her, "You want your way now or else, eh." She smiled fondly at her Daughter, and stroked the soft hair. When Skyana was finished, she released the nipple with a contented sigh that made Angharad laugh. She burped her and cuddled her, then carried her downstairs to put her in the playpen, and returned upstairs to do the same with Skye.

Once the Twins were downstairs for the day, Angharad took a shower and made up her bed. By then, her stomach was rumbling and she felt famished. Pancakes sounded good, and she'd add blueberries if she still had some. Quickly and efficiently, she whipped them up and seated herself at the kitchen table to devour them.

Outside, the morning sun sparkled off the snow and she wondered if she'd really imagined what she saw the night before.

The detailing on this is great! (I belong to the LJ comm thesims2, but I don't have an IJ of my own so I had to sign in as one of my RP characters to comment.) Looking forward to more, it's really awesome.
