Chapter 3

The day passed quickly. Between changing diapers and quick feedings, she somehow found the time to not only order groceries and put them away when they arrived, but to fix the computer that decided to go on the fritz.

Then, she played with Skyana for abit before their afternoon feeding and nap time. Skye was more content to lay in the playpen, pulling on his fingers and toes than be held by his mother. "Of course, this could change the moment I walk out the door for work, " she thought to herself as she tickled him where he lay in the playpen. "Silly boy," she thought kindly.

She gave the Twins a quick bath before putting them down for their afternoon naps. Skyana giggled and splashed, while Skye was more reserved, and tried to hold the water in his chubby fists. They were both quite amusing in their own, unique ways.

She was washing up the lunch dishes, which had sat while she'd fed and changed the Twins prior to putting them down for their afternoon naps, when Lainey arrived. Angharad jumped at the sound of the doorbell. It was time to head to work already. She marveled at how fast the day had flown by. Huurying to the door, she quickly let Lainey in, unlocking the front door to do so.

"Good afternoon, Lainey," she said as she opened the door, "I lost track of the time."

"Oh, that's ok, dearie," Lainey said warmly, "Young babies will do that to a person."

She shed her coat as Angharad closed the door behind her, wondering that this was the same woman she'd seen last night, acting so strangely. Lainey walked over to the playpens, gazing fondly down on the sleeping babies.

"I see the little ones are napping, so don't you fret, they'll be fine," she said as she shooed Angharad towards the door, handing her her coat as she did so, "Off to work, dearie, you don't want to be late, after all."

Despite her reservations, Angharad knew Lainey was right. She could not afford to lose her only income at the moment. Maybe when the Twins were older, she could afford to take more than a day or two off at a time, maybe she'd even have time for a real vacation. That would be nice, something with just her maybe...

She hurried out the door to her vehicle, and headed off to work. Lainey watched from the front window until Angharad was out of site and not coming back, an odd expression on her face. As soon as the tail lights were out of sight, she walked over to the playpens and stood there, gazing down on Skye as he slept.

She bent over, gently running her hand over his head, crooning softly under her breath.."Soon, dear one, soon..."

Days seemed to fly by. That promotion her boss had casually mentioned, became a reality, as she was promoted to Sous Chef, and had her hours changed.
Lainey actually seemed happy that she'd no longer be working for Angharad, as their schedules no longer permitted. Her last day, she wished Angharad well in the years to come.

It seemed like the Twins were born only yesterday, but their Birth Day was rapidly approaching. She rubbed her eyes tiredly, as she contemplated the upcoming day.

'At least Karen is helping with making a cake', she thought as she went over bills, figuring out which she could pay this week, and which needed put off for another week.

She stretched, cracking her back, and headed upstairs to check on the Twins before taking a shower, then heading to bed, unaware that someone was watching...

The day was a perfect early Spring day. Unfortunately for Angharad, it was marred by an early morning nightmare, of which she had little memory of once she was fully awake.

Angharad sat up in bed, a cold sweat pouring off of her body. The last vestiges of the dream faded rapidly, leaving only the sense of unease.

Down the hall, she could hear the Twins stirring in their cribs. Soon Skyana would be screaming for her bottle and Sky wouldn't be far behind. Angharad sighed as she climbed out of bed. Hopefully, Skyana would grow out of this demanding phase soon.

The Twins were playing quietly in their room together while Angharad washed up the lunch dishes and readied herself for work. She'd traded shifts for the day in order to have the Twins' Birth Day off. The doorbell rang, and she hurried to open it.

"Thanks, Karen, for making room for tonight", she said as she let the Nanny in, "I really appreciate everything you've done for us."

"But of course, my dear!", Karen exclaimed, "The Twins are real sweethearts and a pleasure to watch for you. They remind me of my own grandchildren at that age."

"They're upstairs playing", Angharad replied, laughing, "I should run up and say goodnight before I leave."

She headed upstairs where the Twins greeted her with squeals of happiness. She hugged each tightly and headed back downstairs to go to work.

The day of the Twins' Birth Day soon arrived. A typical early Spring day again, all the snow had melted away, birds were singing and the trees were starting to leaf out finally.

Angharad was up early this particular morning, preparing for the small Birth Day celebration that afternoon. Karen had been kind enough to bring the cake by the evening before. Now she just needed to get the Twins up, fed and bathed first. Although, she considered, maybe waiting on the bath until after the party would be the better idea.

'Speaking of the Twins', she thought, she could hear them stirring upstairs. She hummed to herself as she headed up to get them up for the day.
